Anthropocene is a keyword used to describe the current geological epoch. What future awaits us and do we still have time to shape our societies so that they design the world in terms of regenerating landscapes and relationships with the environment?
The background of the discussion with Andrzej Marzec – author of the recently published book “Anthropocene. Philosophy and Aesthetics after the End of the World” and Monika Rogowska-Stangret – author of “Being of the World. Four Essays on Posthumanist Ethics,” to be published in the fall, will be two video works from the WRO 2021 Biennale program REVERSO: Weather Print by Marie Ouazzani and Nicolas Carrier and Ruins in Reverse by Olena Newkryta. What they have in common is a vision of the world affected by an ecological disaster.
The discussion will be moderated by Magdalena Zamorska and Jacek Małczyński from the Contemporary Humanities Lab at the Institute of Cultural Studies of the University of Wrocław, creators of the “Cultural Ecologies” specialization.
